Mining - Processing - Geological - Quarrying
Our client in Oman, who operates a gold antimony smelter, has an opening for an HSE Officer.
Responsibilities for this position will include the following:
• Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety and Environmental management • Maintain relevant HSE logs and documentation • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations • Prepare applicable HSE reports as necessary • Provide assistance and advice on HSE issues to make recommendations to facility management • Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis • Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE training • Observe HSE regulations, wear all required safety equipment, encourage safe working practices, correct obvious hazards immediately or report them to the proper personnel • Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance • Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies • Perform other work-related tasks as required as assigned • Comply with all HSE procedures and policies • Conduct daily and monthly HSE Meetings/Trainings and schedule as needed • Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish HSE presence and provide support • Write, implement, and manage HSE Programs, Policies and Procedures • Perform facility HSE Inspections • Ability to evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE • Follow Fall Protection program, inspect all fall protection equipment and maintain inspection records
• Bachelor Degree in safety management, engineering or relevant with 5 years industrial/Oil & Gas /constructions experience OR Diploma in safety management, engineering or relevant with 7 years industrial/Oil & Gas /constructions experience • Additional Certificates such as NEBOSH, ISO, OASH etc. is a plus • Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus • Outstanding organizational skills • Hardworking with great attention to detail • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
