Tunnelling - Civil Engineering - Infrastructure
Our client is recruiting for a talented Mechanical Engineer to work in their Peterborough offices. The purpose of this role is to ensure project deliverables meet the agreed standards and quality, and deliver the benefits of design strategies as defined by the Technical Manager. Mechanical Engineers are required to support both clean and wastewater projects.
Good technical and interpersonal skills are required, as the Mechanical Engineer will work with a number of different people and teams to drive towards excellence in health and safety, provide technical guidance and ensure all technical deliverables are properly checked, understood, implemented and approved.
You will need to demonstrate experience within the construction industry, knowledge of water and waste water treatment processes and an understanding of mechanical detailed design.
•Be responsible for the production of technical deliverables required in the Stand Alone Process, working closely with the supply chain and performing technical bid analysis of their designs •Support the Mechanical Discipline Head in the drive towards excellence in health and safety, by producing safe designs •Support the regular design and discipline meetings and participate in sharing cross-discipline information •Ensure all technical work is undertaken to the correct standards and specifications •Ensure the requirements of Minimum Asset Standard (MAS) are adhered to and offer challenge when applicable •Be responsible for maintaining quality and consistency of technical documents •Work with the relevant parties to ensure that all technical deliverables are properly checked, understood, implemented and approved •Escalate any potential issues to the Technical Manager before they become problems •Maintain close links with other Engineers and the Discipline Head to ensure smooth interfaces between disciplines, manage gaps, overlaps and share best practice •Liaise closely with Technical Managers within the programme area to provide technical guidance and explore opportunities for out-performance from technical innovation •Provide and maintain an estimate for design works needed to deliver the precast design •Ensure that the design delivery is matched to the project programme and every effort is assured to ensure delivery on time
The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:
•Construction industry experience •Knowledge of water and waste water treatment processes •Full understanding of mechanical conceptual and detailed design and optioneering •Educated to HNC/HND level, or equivalent •Good team worker with the ability to collaborate and integrate into a wide team but also able to exercise own judgement work independently •Effective communicator •Ability to take responsibility and ownership •Excellent prioritisation and planning skills •Ability to challenge •Ability to adhere to all deadlines set •Deliver required services (drawings, specifications, estimating packs) on time and to cost, quality standards •Desire to strive for personal development •Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and implications of our client’s MAS •BEng or MEng Mechanical engineering, or equivalent, working towards professional status
